Dr. Megan Gulsby earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of West Florida, followed by a Master of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University.
Her passion for veterinary medicine began in high school through the Veterinary Assistant Program at Tate High School, where she first learned the fundamentals of patient care and hospital operations. By the age of 15, she was volunteering in clinics and continued gaining experience as a technician throughout college. These early experiences fostered both her love for animals and a fascination with the science and research that drive veterinary medicine.
With 10 years of experience in the field and a special dedication to emergency care, Dr. Gulsby is especially passionate about educating clients and helping them understand their pets’ medical needs. She values the opportunity to empower owners with knowledge and support while providing compassionate care. Her professional interests also include leadership, mental health, wellbeing, and fostering strong team dynamics within the hospital.
At home, Dr. Gulsby shares life with her partner, Brett, and her cat, Stanley. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys riding and caring for her horse, paddleboarding, CrossFit, and spending time on the Gulf Coast’s beaches. She also finds joy in reading and playing the piano, which allow her to relax and recharge.

The staff from front desk to veterinarians delivered compassionate, professional, expert care to my Golden Retriever Dani. I was fortunate to be able to access care credit to meet the immediate financial committment for her treatment. Diagnostic tests including labs and CT scan, chest tubes, major thoracic surgery, a week of critical care. The fact that these critical care services were available saved her life. The surgeons demonstrated exceptional skill and knowledge. I do not feel any of the cost was excessive. I do realize that many are not able or willing to pay for the needed emergency healthcare. I have been in that position myself. VERC is a business and has to run as one to stay open. Understand that does not mean that it is not difficult for staff members who work within these limitations. VERC supported the level of follow up care that was needed for my companion from August until December. This included consulting with outside veterinarians with specific specialties (infectious disease, pathology) and working with our primary care veterinarian. I would not hesitate to take any one of my canine or feline companions to VERC. Thank you to each and every one of you that assisted in Dani's care. The quality time i had with her means more than words can say."
