Mackenzie was born and raised in southern CA. From an early age, she wanted to be a dolphin trainer, and her passion and love for animals grew from there. Mackenzie obtained her B.S. in Marine Science from California State University, Monterey Bay. Shortly after graduating, she began volunteering in husbandry with Southern Sea Otters at the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, CA. Throughout the years, she has been fortunate to work with numerous marine mammal rescue, rehab, release facilities along the CA coast, and had the privilege working alongside doctors and researchers at NOAA Southwest Fisheries Science Center on the ICUN Red List involving Eastern Pacific Green Turtles.
After many years in the veterinary field, Mackenzie went back to school for veterinary technology at Platt College.
Mackenzie has rescued three fur babies, two dogs and one cat. When she is not working, she enjoys weightlifting, paddle-boarding, hiking, going to the beach, wine tasting and pretty much any activity that involves being outdoors.
See All Our Specialists"I can't sing their praises enough. On 2 Nov 2023, I called ahead and let them know we were en route with 3 pups that had been bitten by a rattlesnake. When we got to the door 30 minutes later, they had staff in the lobby waiting for us. They took the pups back and then helped us fill out the paperwork because I was on the verge of hysterics from the whole thing and not able to do it. The vets explained everything in thorough simple terms and updated us regularly. They are very professional with great side manners. They did the full antivenom protocol and saved all 3 of my pups. I can't thank you guys enough for helping our pups and also for treating us with care and kindness even when we were all in a bit of shock."
