Dr. Lemarie is a native of Arkansas where she was born and raised. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (formerly Northeast Louisiana University), and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge. During veterinary school, she developed an affinity for surgery and was attracted to the surgical correction of small animal injuries and diseases. Following graduation, she pursued an internship at the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine where her love for Small Animal Surgery was reinforced. Following the internship, life brought her back to the state of Louisiana where she was enrolled in graduate school at LSU, and was the first recipient of a Masters Degree in Veterinary Clinical Sciences from LSU. While obtaining her graduate degree, she was employed by multiple general practices as a relief veterinarian throughout Southeast Louisiana, developing her clinical skills. She began her Residency in Small Animal Surgery at LSU in 1995 and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1999.
In 2000 following completion of her surgical specialty education, she became a founding partner of Southeast Veterinary Specialists in New Orleans. The practice grew from the specialties of Surgery and Dermatology to include Internal Medicine, Oncology, Emergency & Critical Care, and Physical Rehabilitation. During this time, Dr. Lemarie performed general surgery, orthopedic surgery, and neurologic surgery daily, while also serving as a practice owner and manager. She has served many roles in clinical practice and uniquely understands the needs of the referring doctors that she serves. Although her love is orthopedic surgery, she has a broad surgical knowledge that allows her to adapt to other areas of surgery when needed.
Dr. Lemarie has a love for South Louisiana and New Orleans and has a home in the French Quarter where she enjoys the history, art and architecture associated with the city. Dr. Lemarie is a long term friend of Dr. Bordelon and his family, and has been around VERC in Pensacola since its inception. She has recently moved to Navarre Beach with her family and is joining VERC as an Associate Surgeon where she plans to support our team in providing surgical services for this region. Dr. Lemarie is an avid runner and enjoys the outdoors and the beach when she is not working. Her family includes a French Bulldog (Champignon), a Wirehaired Dachshund (Riseaux), and a cat (Aubergine).
See All Our Specialists"On a recent trip to the area our fur baby became very sick during the early morning hours. We googled emergency veterinary hospitals and found the Veterinary Emergency Referral Center. Everyone was so kind, professional, compassionate and helped ease the nerves of a very scared pet family. After a very thorough exam and several medications including an antibiotic, our fur baby was feeling much better. Once home, we followed up with our regular veterinarian who continued with another round of antibiotics and our Lilly is now back to her old self. Thank you so much to everyone!"
